Ex-Dale star goes to court over dad’s death... The Hilditch family are claiming damages between ÂŁ50,000 and ÂŁ100,000 from the company, now called Marconi Mobile Systems. The dead man's 47-year-old son, of Riverstone Bridge, Littleborough, played 242 games for Rochdale in his two spells at Spotland, scoring 47 goals. He is now a prison officer at Buckley Hall and a coach at Oldham Athletic’s youth academy. He said: "More and more people are becoming aware of the dangers of asbestos, but "I don’t really feel angry, but when I look back at how quickly he went I feel like there were some years of his life that have been taken away. "There was a lot of time we would have liked to have spent with him that has been lost."
Paul Glanville of John Pickerings Solicitors in Halifax is representing Mr Hilditch. He said: "We feel we have a very strong case. The writ has been served and now we are waiting for a timetable of events, but expect it to go to trial in May or June."
