Doctor Mark Clements from the Australian National University (ANU) says the revised model may mean there will need to be more money set aside for compensation.

"There's a very strong possibility - I think it's the level of increase that the actuaries would have to answer," he said.

Dr Clements presented his findings at an accident compensation seminar in Melbourne today.
