Search for EFCO employees after husband’s death... Brenda, who lived in Mytchett when Alan worked for EFCO but later moved to Abingdon near Oxford, said: “The cancer affected him very quickly and after his death there was an autopsy. An inquest in July 2004 confirmed that he died from an industrial disease. “He did say to me when he was ill that someone should pay for this, for taking him away from us. “We are not money-orientated people and we never have been but that was what he said.” Brenda and her family sought the advice of a solicitor in October 2003 following her husband’s death. Before his death, Alan signed a statement saying he believed his exposure to asbestos had occurred at EFCO. But further evidence is required. Brenda added: “I was 55 when he died and we thought we would go on to retire and have a life together. He was unable to walk his daughter, Andrea, up the aisle as she married three weeks after he died. I know he was very upset about that and after family discussions I walked her down the aisle on her wedding day. “He could distinctly remember EFCO and there must be someone who remembers him from back then. We need to contact someone who can back up Alan’s story — It’s just a life cut short.” EFCO has been bought by another company and the operation that Mr Plows worked for no longer exists. It is not related to any other firm of the same or similar name in the area. Peter Lodge at BPE Solicitors rep... Researchers improve anti-cancer treatment...
